Lindome Church

A litte background on the church in Lindome before we get there: Lindome church is about 25 minutes outside of central Gothenburg. Their website contains a slideshow banner of the surrounding area and the church itself:

The church is connected with the Swedish church. The Swedish church was connected to the state until 2000. It is the largest church organization in the country. About 73% of the population are members and about 5% of those attend weekly.

Lindome church has a long history, which dates back far enough that no one knows the exact date the church was first built on the site. Several different parts of the church are from different eras. There is a baptism font from the 1100s/1200s, a bell from 1577, and two previous altarpieces from the 1600s and the 1800s respectively. The current structure is from 1885.

The current altarpiece is from the renovation in 2000. The painting portrays Mary meeting Jesus after the resurrection (John 20:11-18). The different colors represent different meanings:
Black: Sorrow and death. The grave is painted black.
Red: Love to God and others.
  • White: Life and victory over death.
The church has a building in another part of town for the congregation and the town to meet for different events. Not quite sure which place Jenny will be singing in, but I believe it will be the church and not the congregation meeting place. We'll find out shortly!
